Mirror Ideation: an AI toolkit for ideation debriefing in design education

In design education, student teams often lack the means to reflect on their collaborative dynamics and creative processes in the ideation phase. To address this, my thesis explores how Generative AI can act as a non-evaluative “cognitive mirror” that supports awareness and metacognitive learning. The research develops an AI based pipeline that analyzes audio from students' ideation meetings to generate a clear visual debrief of the team’s reasoning and idea space. The idea is to externalize otherwise invisible patterns, providing students with a visual summary of their teamwork alongside actionable feedback that stimulates reflection and a more conscious and self-regulated learning process.
