Cumulus Green student competition

October 22, 2024

MARE, a thesis project developed by Master's student in PSSD, Andrea Camurani, has been awarded an Honorary Mention in the Cumulus Green 2024: Designing Healthy Future international student competition. The competition's theme focused on SDG 3: Health and Well-being, aiming to promote projects that demonstrate how to ensure healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages, encourage healthy lifestyles, fight diseases, and improve access to healthcare. MARE was selected by the international jury of experts from Cumulus Green, following a multi-phase deliberation process among more than 280 submissions from 89 Cumulus member institutions. MARE is a prototype of a network of cultural institutions in the province of Reggio Emilia that offer participatory cultural and museum experiences for people with dementia and their caregivers. The service system aims to overcome existing logistical, economic, and cognitive barriers through co-designed activities tailored to the participants' abilities and interests. The goal is to ensure inclusive access to art and culture, enabling people with dementia to benefit from art and culture, and promoting the idea that active participation in the cultural and social life of the community is a fundamental right for all, moving towards a dementia-friendly society.
