International Mobility

PSSD students have different  opportunities to build an international curriculum, joining programs such as:

Semester Study Abroad (Exchange in UE or Extra UE)

Double Degree Program

Summer Schools or International Workshops

Erasmus Placement (Internship in EU)

Final Thesis Abroad

Students in PSSD can make an exchange mobility in the second year selecting among more than 40  European and Extra UE Universities from all over the world.

Double Degree Program with Tongji University

POLITONG is the double degree program with Tongji University – College of Design and Innovation in Shanghai China, tailored on PSSD students. It allows to get two degree by adding 30 credits to the PSSD academic curriculum. The Politecnico di Milano students  will take 2.5 years for a total of 150 ECTS credits leaving Milan at the end of the 1st semester of the 2nd year to Shanghai where they may spend up to 3 semester (2 mandatory +1 optional).

The program foresees the exchange of 7 students. The selection of the students enrolled in PSSD (Product Service System Design) takes place during the 1st year of the Master, according to the Politecnico double degree call.

PSSD students will attend courses at Tongji University in English, they will do the internship in selected companies and professional practices and they will develop the final thesis mainly tutored by a Tongji professors and co-tutored by a Politecnico di Milano one. The thesis will be presented both in Tongji (or via Skype form Italy in case of a  2 semester exchange) and in Politecnico di Milano once back in Italy.

Master of European Design MEDes

The Master of European  Design (MEDes) is a unique network of seven leading European design schools. During the five year programme (3+2), students are integrated into three design education systems and join a strong international community. This diverse experiences provide them with different approaches to design, multi-national perspectives and  sensitivity to cultural differences. Master of European Design (MEDes) is a network of seven leading European design institutions, all of whom offer a degree programme leading to the award of Master of European Design (MEDes). The Master degree with the MEDes specialization includes successive academic study years in two of the partner institutions in addition to the major studies at the home institution. During their stay abroad the curricular contents follow the programs of the individual partner schools. The studies abroad take place in English or in the respective national language.

6 students are selected for this programme of excellence from all those enrolled on the 2nd year of the Bachelor programs in Industrial Product Design, Interior Design and Communication Design.

Candidates for the MEDes programme carry out two study periods at two partner universities:
• one in the 3rd year of the level I Laurea;
• the other in the 1st year of the Laurea Magistrale.

The choice of university will be made based on student preferences and the Board of Medes during the compulsary workshop organised in March of each year.

Erasmus+ for Traineeship

PSSD students have  the possibility of undertaking the curricular work placement in Europe, through the Erasmus Placement Call arranged by the University Career Service, which enables selected students to obtain scholarships for an experience of at least three months (250 hours).
